Sacramento River Salmon Season Update June 2020.

The votes are in and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife Comissioners have voted to re open the Sacramento River to a Full salmon fishing season.  This year there are some significant changes that anglers will be glad to know.

One of the bigger changes to the Sacramento River salmon fishing season is the closing dates on the Sacramento River has been extended.  There will be more days for anglers to get out and salmon fish on the Sacramento River this year as the Sacramento River will remain open above the Red Bluff Diversion Dam to the Deschutes Bridge near Anderson California through December 31, 2020.   In addition to that extended season on the Sac River, the Feather River in Oroville California will remain open to salmon fishing through October 31, 2020.

The second huge addition to this years Sacramento River salmon fishing season is the daily salmon limit on the Feather River has been increased to (3) king salmon per person!  The daily limit on the Sacramento River will remain at (2) salmon per angler per day.

Typically the Sacramento River salmon season will begin to build in July and early August then will pick up steam as more salmon arrive in the lower Sacramento River in mid August. Peak salmon fishing season on the Sacramento River is late August, all of September and early October.
