Salmon fishing Sacramento River 11-13-2019. The late Fall king salmon fishing season has now started on the Sacramento River.  These are the freshest and hardest fighting king salmon of the year.  November and December are the two top months to target these king salmon and it is the one time of the year that you can literally catch a trophy 40 to 50 pound king anytime you wrap a sardine on your kwikfish and fish it in the Sacramento River.  These king salmon waste no time running upriver to the spawning grounds and catching dime bright kings like the ones pictured below is a good bet while salmon fishing in November and December with Sacramento River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs.Sacramento River fishing guide 12-4-2018.

As the Fall salmon that arrived in the Sacramento River during July, August, September and October have moved onto the spawning redds or the Coleman National Fish Hatchery above the Barge Hole in Anderson Balls Ferry California, the Sacramento River has now cleaned itself of old salmon and is now offering fresh new kings to catch.  The Sacramento River is one of the only rivers in the world that hosts three recognizable runs of king salmon, Fall, late Fall, Winter and Spring kings.  The Sacramento River is open to salmon fishing only six months a year and closes for six months to protect Winter and Spring king salmon.  The California State record king salmon was caught and recorded here in the 1970’s… a massive 88 pound king salmon!  So it is easy to see that a large king of 40 to 50 plus pounds is a real possibility here on the Sacramento River every year especially in November and December.
