Sacramento River fishing report.

With very unsettled weather around the Sacramento River Valley, different river fishing conditions have made for great fishing is some locations and more challenging in others.  The fantastic wild rainbow trout fishing has continued in the upper Sacramento River near downtown Redding.  There are double digit hook ups happening below the highway 44 bridge in Redding downriver through Anderson California.  Best bets are side drifting various egg patterns and back trolling small hot shot style plugs.  Farther downriver, the American Shad have arrived in great catchable numbers but the muddy water conditions have slowed the bite down.  As river conditions improve so will the shad fishing success.

Feather River shad fishing report.

The red hot striper fishing has slowed as the spawn winds down but with clear, warm water conditions the American shad bite is picking up in the early mornings and late evenings on the Feather River below Oroville California.  Anglers side casting small brightly colored curly tailed jigs will find best results on the Feather River.  Shad are in large schools from Yuba City California upriver towards Oroville California.
