Sacramento River fishing report.

There are a couple of great fishing trips for anglers to get out and try this spring now that heavy rains have slowed and warmer drier weather has returned.  The Sacramento River in Redding has continued to drop and the wild rainbow trout fishing has been fantastic this month.  Wild rainbow trout are biting daily with most anglers experiencing 12 to 20 plus hook ups a day.  Most rainbow trout have been between 14 to 20 plus inches with the occasional large trout tipping the scales 3 to 5 pounds.  Side drifting small egg patterns have been top producer with back trolled small hot shot style plugs coming in second.  Moving downriver below Red Bluff California, anglers are beginning to find good sized schools of striped bass.  The striper fishing has been tough due to high water but now river levels are finally dropping and clearing towards Chico Ca.  The best striper fishing is happening daily drifting large live minnows, trolling Rebel style spoonbill minnows or bait fishing from anchor.  Striper fishing should really heat up as flows continue to drop and river temperatures continue to rise.

Feather River striper fishing report.

Over on the Feather River near Yuba City California the striper run has been building and the bite has been solid.  There has been very good limit style fishing happening from Live Oak Ca downriver towards the Bear River below Yuba City.  There has been a solid live minnow bite as well as casting white swimsuits and/or black worms.  Anglers trolling YoZuri plugs have also scored big this past week on stripers 18 to 25 inches.  Several large striped bass have come in this week over 15 pounds with many 3 to 6 pound bass rounding out most boat limits.  Striper season has just begun with peak season being all of April and most of May.  With this springs high cold water, good striper fishing could run well into June this season.
