This Sacramento River fishing report 5-30-2018 is courtesy of Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service. The Sacramento River continues to host a wide variety of fish for anglers to fish for weather it be wild rainbow trout or striped bass, the Sacramento River has many to choose from this month. The Sacramento River wild trout fishing in Redding California continues to produce multiple hook ups for rainbow trout 1 to 3 pounds. Downriver near Colusa California there are still spring striped bass around 2 to 20 pounds from Colusa to Knights Landing. The American shad run is in full stride with thousands of American shad ascending on Northern California for their spawn from Red Bluff to Chico California. These fish are also in the 1 to 3 pound class with large female shad running in the high 3 to 4 pound class. Finally, the Sacramento River is beginning to see the beginnings of the early salmon migration which is setting the stage for the official opening of salmon fishing on the Sacramento River to take place on July 16, 2018 as reported by Sacramento River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs.
