Sacramento fishing report 2018.

There is a lot of buzz flying around about this years Sacramento River salmon fishing season and for good reason.  As reported by Sacramento River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs, the Sacramento Rivers’ 2018 salmon fishing season has been officially announced.  “This year the California Department of Fish and Wildlife has announced that there will be a FULL 2018 Sacramento River salmon fishing season” Jacobs reports.  ” This year like years past will consist of two salmon fishing openers.” Fishing guide Dave Jacobs goes on “The first salmon opener will take place 150 feet down river of the Sycamore Grove boat launch at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam on July 16, 2018.” “The second up river opener will happen on August 1, 2018 and will open the Sacramento River from the Deschutes Bridge in Anderson California all the way to the Carquinez Bridge down river.”  Anglers this season will not only enjoy a FULL salmon season from July 16 to December 16, 2018 but will be allowed a one salmon per person daily limit on salmon.  This is not to be confused with the salmon possession limit, two completely different rules.  The salmon possession limit is two salmon in possession per person. The Sacramento River is home to some of California’s largest king salmon. In fact, the California State record salmon was caught in these very waters, a scale tipping 88 pound king salmon!  It is easy to see why the Sacramento River king salmon run creates so much “buzz” among many anglers from all over the country.

Anglers looking for other varieties of sport fish in the Sacramento River can explore different sections of river and give their hand a try for American Shad, wild rainbow trout, Coleman National Fish Hatchery steelhead, striped bass and white sturgeon.  All of these species are in the Sacramento River at this time and can be successfully targeted daily with both conventional and fly gear.  Some top producing sections of Sacramento River are Redding,Ca. Red Bluff, Corning, Los Molinos,Grimes Tisdale, Ord Ferry, Colusa, Chico and Knights Landing.  Anglers looking for a current Sacramento River fishing report 2018 can look no further as Sacramento fishing guide Dave Jacobs will offer this seasons most up to date fishing reports and conditions on the Sacramento and Feather Rivers.
