Sacramento River salmon season opens this Sunday!

The 2017 Sacramento River salmon fishing season will officially open this Sunday July 16th.  The salmon fishing and catching out of the Golden Gate continues to be very strong.  There has been limit style fishing reports coming in from the salt for several weeks now.  This year anglers will enjoy a full salmon fishing season on the Sacramento River from July 16th through December 16th.  The daily limit this year is two salmon per person with a four salmon per person possession limit.  The salmon fishing opener will be on July 16th at the Red Bluff Diversion Dam and the upper Sac River will open to  salmon fishing on Aug 1st.  If the red hot salmon fishing out of the Golden Gate is any indication of what is to come, salmon fishing in the Sacramento River could be fantastic.  Check back here at for the most current salmon fishing reports for this Sundays opener.
