The 2017 Sac River salmon fishing season officially begins on July 16, 2017.  There are many nice king salmon being caught by the ocean anglers this month and the anticipation of the Sac River salmon opener is building.  The best opening day salmon fishing will be 150 feet below the Sycamore Boat Launch downriver through Woodson Bridge and Chico, California.  This is located just below the old Red Bluff Diversion Dam.  There will more salmon fishing allowed after August 1st above the old Red Bluff Diversion Dam all the way up to the Deschutes Bridge in Anderson.  Sac River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs reports that this will be the first year ever to fish for two year old returning hatchery salmon that were 100% trucked by Fish and Wildlife to combat the California drought.  Having 100% of the Coleman Hatchery salmon trucked could reward Sac River salmon fishing anglers with many king salmon.  The looming Sacramento River salmon fishing opener will answer some of those questions that many have about this upcoming season.  The Sac River salmon run will open in mid July and build and peak in August, September and October.  Mid to late October traditionally marks the end of the Sac River Fall run and the beginning of the Sacramento River Late Fall run that lasts through mid December.  Anglers on the Sacramento and Feather River will enjoy a two salmon per day bag limit and a four salmon per person possession limit.  This will help with the many two day salmon fishing trips anglers experience during peak season.  There are many very good days available now to book in July, August, September and October.  To reserve your guided fishing trip with Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service, call guide Dave Jacobs direct at 1 (530)646-9110.
