Smith River steelhead fishing guide.

Smith River steelhead fishing guide Dave Jacobs reports strong fishing on the Smith River this past week.  More rain is on the way and the Smith River is forecasted to rise again this weekend.  Anglers form both the banks and from the drift boats are enjoying great success on mostly wild steelhead 7 to 12 pounds with the occasional big steelhead 15 to 20 plus pounds being landed this week.  There are a few hatchery steelhead here on the Smith River and they are very rare in the upper river.  With all of the high flows on most rivers in Northern California, the Smith and Chetco River’s have been providing many good steelhead fishing opportunities as the Smith River is the fastest clearing river in the state.
