Todays Northern California fishing report is courtesy of Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service. Smith River steelhead fishing guide. Smith River steelhead fishing guide Dave Jacobs is now available for fully guided steelhead fishing trips on both the Smith and Chetco Rivers. With all of this past weekends rains, both rivers were high for a moment but with all of the high water this year the Smith and Chetco rivers both drop and clear very quickly. The Smith River is already down to fishable conditions and will be great for the rest of this week and through next week. Sunny weather is forecasted and both rivers are dropping every hour! These are the two rivers where we have landed a 21 pound and a 22 pound steelhead and offer anglers from around the world the opportunity at a true trophy steelhead here in Northern California and in Southern Oregon. For the latest California fishing reports from around the state please check out USA fishing. Chetco River steelhead fishing report. Now that nice weather is returning the Chetco River in Southern Oregon is also dropping nicely and will be fishable just days behind the Smith River. We are now back from the big ISE Sportsmens Expo in Sacramento and are set up to guide you and your guests on the lower Chetco and the Upper wild and scenic section of Chetco River. We are one of just a handful of licensed outfitters who can guide you and your guests down the upper Chetco through the Rogue-Siskiyou National Forest section of the Chetco River. You can keep up with current Chetco River steelhead fishing at USA fishing. Pictured is one of the latest steelhead we landed on the Chetco River just one day before this last round of rain hit. January and February are the two very best months to come steelhead fishing on the Smith and Chetco Rivers.
