Sacramento river salmon season update.

This Sacramento river salmon season update is courtesy Sacramento River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs.

The Sacramento River fall and late fall salmon season has completely come to a close after December 16, 2016.  The Sacramento river fall run should tentatively re open to salmon fishing on July 16, 2017.   Look for the official season announcement in the spring of 2017.

Until then there are many other fishing trips available on the Sacramento river and surrounding Northern California rivers.  The Sacramento River will provide great sturgeon fishing opportunities this winter.  Sacramento River fishing guide Dave Jacobs offers fully guided sturgeon fishing trips on the Sacramento River.

Late March and early April anglers can give the Sacramento and Feather rivers a try for the spring striped bass run like the video featured here.  Until then, maybe give Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service a try on a variety of Northern California and Southern Oregon river’s that Dave is licensed to float you and your guest down for winter steelhead.  Steelhead fishing river’s like the Smith, Chetco, Trinity and Eel river’s just to name a few.  These trips peak run times are January, February and March.  There are plenty of guided fishing options with guide Dave Jacobs until the Sacramento river salmon season re open’s in July of 2017.

Enjoy this video of Sacramento River striped bass feeding heavily on the out migrating fall run Sacramento river hatchery salmon smolt last spring.  Happy New Year!
