Sacramento California salmon fishing report 10-2-2016.

This Sacramento California salmon fishing report 10-2-2016 is courtesy of Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service. The salmon fishing on the Sacramento River has been fair depending on what section of river you choose to fish on any given day.  Salmon are spread throughout the upper Sacramento River and have been moving through all of the popular holes. Anderson Balls Ferry downriver through Hamilton City has been best sections.  The groups of salmon that are heavily fished in some holes have not been biting that good where the quieter groups of salmon being fished are cooperating and biting more often.  Best bets still have been back bounced sardine wrapped kwikfish style lures like the Brads Killer Fish in the KF-16 sizes.  Many salmon that are being caught now are still very fresh and very hard fighters.  There are a few older king salmon being caught and this weekends wet weather is definitely moving salmon upriver towards the hatchery.  The majority of returning salmon look to be three and four year old returning salmon from 20 to 30 pounds.  Salmon fishing should continue through October.

Feather River salmon fishing report.

This Feather River salmon fishing report is courtesy of guide Dave Jacobs of Professional Guide Service. The best salmon fishing river in the Central Valley has hands down been the Feather River near Oroville, Ca. as reported by Feather River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs.  The lights out limit style salmon fishing has been happening everyday this week.  Hanging roe/puffballs and back bounced sardine wrapped lures are working best in and around the Feather River Outlet Hole just downriver of downtown Oroville.  The Feather River Outlet Hole is holding and producing the most bites for both the power boats and the bank fishermen.  Expect crowded fishing if heading to the Feather River this week along with lower river releases as of October 1st.

Sacramento River trout and fly fishing report.

The Sacramento River trout and fly fishing report is courtesy of Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service.  It is that time of year to start thinking of heading out in the Redding, Anderson and Red Bluff section of Sacramento River and fishing for wild rainbow trout and steelhead.  As the Fall salmon begin to spawn look for great trout and steelhead fishing around those spawns in October.  Fly fishing is also going to be spectacular in October.  Fly fishermen should look to use egg patterns primarily as well as caddis and mayflies.  Best yarn patterns are peachy king and best glow beads are the glow roe and tangerine colors.
