Currently the Sacramento River is fishing for wild rainbow trout and striped bass. The wild rainbow trout fishing has been spectacular with double digit rainbows coming in on every trip this week. The average size of the trout this week has been very large with many trout 3 to 6 pounds coming into the net. Pictured today is Gladys Waters from Redding with one of her many very large rainbow trout with Sacramento River trout fishing guide Dave Jacobs. The upper reaches of the Lower Sacramento River in Redding will close to all fishing after April 1st. There will be a small 5.5 mile section of river closed to all fishing from the highway 44 bridge upriver to the base of Keswick Dam. There will be a full Sacramento River salmon fishing season beginning in mid July. Further downriver, anglers can experience good striper fishing as the Spring spawn is about to wind up as April and early May are the prime times to target striped bass on the Sacramento and Feather Rivers as reported by Sacramento River striper fishing guide Dave Jacobs. We are available seven days a week for both large and small group for rainbow trout or striped bass.
