Sacramento River salmon fishing report Dave Jacobs July 17, 2014 Sacramento River fishing reports Sacramento River salmon fishing report. This Sacramento River salmon fishing report is courtesy of Dave Jacobs Professional Guide Service. The Sacramento and Feather River’s salmon seasons opened this morning below the Red Bluff Diversion Dam. Salmon fishing was good for some, great for others and poor for some. In the Corning stretch of river king salmon fishing was poor except for the bite that happened at Deer Creek this morning. There were very few salmon hooked below Corning and the fish counters had not checked a single salmon at the Hamilton City launch. The bite that happened at Deer Creek produced some nice kings 8 to 18 pounds all on back bounced sardine wrapped plugs. There was another really good bite upriver below the Diversion Dam with some limits reported. One of the top producers in the Red Bluff area was Kenny Turner with a dozen king salmon hooked and full limits for two anglers all on sardine wrapped plugs up to 23 pounds. King salmon fishing will continue to build through July and into early August. Look for best fishing in mid to late August and all of September as reported by Sacramento River salmon fishing guide Dave Jacobs. pictured is Kenny Turner with a 23 pound Sacramento River king salmon from opening day in Red Bluff, Ca.
